Liat Hughes Joshi is the author of four parenting books, including New Old-fashioned Parenting (Summersdale, 2015), How to Unplug Your Child (Summersdale 2015) and Raising Children: The Primary Years (Pearson/ Prentice Hall 2010).

As a freelance journalist, Liat has written for The Sunday Times, The Independent on Sunday and The Daily Telegraph, as well as Junior, Mother and Baby, Pregnancy and Birth magazines and many more parenting periodicals and websites. She has also been quoted as an expert commentator on parenting and family life issues in a variety of magazines and newspapers and appeared on Sky News, ITV’s Tonight Programme and BBC Radio 4 and 5.

An extract from her book, New Old-fashioned Parenting recently appeared in a double page spread on the subject in the Daily Mail. The book has been called “the antidote to over-indulgent modern parenting” by the psychologist and author of Affluenza, Oliver James, whilst a national newspaper review described it as “a highly topical book that will make you reassess your family values.”

So far, foreign language editions of her books have been published in India, Romania, and Italy, with China and South America to come soon.

Before changing careers in 2003, Liat spent nine years working as a management consultant. She lives in London.
